BIOGRAPHY CONTINUED...

Alexander was instrumental in organizing the historic March for Justice for Martin Lee Anderson on April 21st 2006, and served as a key spokesperson during the 36-hour sit-in at the Governors Office. Alexander has received numerous awards and recognitions for his many contributions in helping others. Tallahassee Community College recognized him in their 6th Annual African American History Calendar, the prestigious Tallahassee Chapter of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators recognized him with the Student Leader of the Year Award, and the Florida Federation of Alpha Chapters recognized him as the 2006 State Oratorical Champion.

Alexander is Dean of Counselors for the Florida American Legion Boys State Program, former member of the Florida Student Association Board of Directors, the Leon County Civic Center Authority Board, FAMU Presidential Search Committee, and the Beta Nu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

At the age of 21 on April 4th, 2006, Alexander announced his candidacy for Leon County Commissioner District 1 located in Florida. A political newcomer running against a ten-year incumbent, Alexander was able to galvanize support all over his district and received 30.9 % of the vote in a three way primary race. Alexander was endorsed by numerous political organizations and neighborhood association presidents to bring legitimacy to his campaign. Following his impressive effort of taking on the political dynamics of an incumbent and the perception of his age, Alexander went on to serve as Senior Campaign Aide to Florida Lieutenant Governor Candidate Senator Daryl L. Jones.

As a strong community advocate, he continues to make a tangible difference; serving as a mentor for hundreds of young people throughout Leon County, along with volunteering his time on several boards and committees that are related to pressing issues facing the quality of life of others in need. Alexander continues his track record of public service, formerly serving as Community & External Affairs Aide to the Mayor of Tallahassee, Florida; now serving as the State Director of the Florida African-American and Caribbean Empowerment Alliance.
