BIOGRAPHY

With unyielding love and passion for public service, and the ability to empower and mobilize people in need of help, Mr. Ramon Alexander is recognized on a local, state, and national level as an effective leader at the forefront of many crucial issues facing citizens throughout America. Noted as one of the Top Twenty-Five Most Influential People in Tallahassee, Florida by the Tallahassee Democrat, Alexander was the youngest person in the Capital City to receive this recognition. Alexander is a proud product of Tallahassee, Florida, a community that has truly invested so much into Alexanders life blessings. A distinguished graduate of Florida A&M University, Alexander successfully earned a degree in the field of political science and public administration, while serving in many key leadership roles throughout his tenure at the institution. Alexander completed the Wellstone Advanced Campaign Management School in 2007, where he was trained by some of the best campaign and political consultants in the world.

Alexander is a nationally recognized motivational speaker and advocate for issues of human rights, civil rights, and access and diversity issues throughout the country. As a result of his consistent leadership, Alexander was elected by the over 12,000 students of FAMU as Student Body President, serving from 2005-2006. As Student Body President, he helped spearhead Hurricane Relief efforts to raise over $140,000 for in need FAMU students from the affected region, hosted the first ever State of the Black Student Summit in the country, spearheaded efforts to establish the Florida Access and Diversity Commission that recommended to the Florida Legislature a $38.6 million plan to increase Need Based Aid for students seeking higher education, and led the Student Body Presidents throughout the State to ensure that the Governor recommended the lowest tuition increase in the State of Florida in 11 years. Subsequently as Student Body President, Alexander played a major role on the FAMU Board of Trustees, ensuring that a concrete timeline was approved by the FAMU Board of Trustees to select the 10th President of FAMU, that differential tuition prices were not increased, that the four sports cut at FAMU in the Fall of 2005, were advocated for and brought back to the University, and that a proposed state of the art Student Union facility was made a priority on the University master plan.
